Where’d Susan Go?
Hey, all! I’m back. Sorry to have been MIA so long, but I’ve been traveling internationally. Well, Canada’s only an hour drive from where I’m living but don’t tell anyone. International Traveler just sounds so cool.
And, for those of you who read the post with my thoughts on bears, I actually saw them in Canada (my pic above!). Not in a zoo, but in the wild. They were actually off the side of the road, but hey, it’s not like they were on leashes. They were free and could’ve squashed me like a bug. They didn’t, as you can tell since I’m here, typing away (between sips of my nf latte w/sf caramel).
But, before you’re too impressed by my “Way With the Wild Animals” I have to tell you I lived to tell the tale cuz I was sitting in the front seat of my SUV with the window rolled halfway up. If I were out hiking, I would’ve been shaking like a pompom at homecoming, and possibly been bear snackage.
While passing the wild bears from time to time, we ended up driving a good 4 hours internationally (still sounds cool) to Banff. Ever heard of it? Me neither. But, let me tell you it’s a C-O-O-L place. All caps really drills it in, doesn’t it? Banff is this adorable town with streets lined with cute stores, restaurants, and coffee shops–totally looks European. Surrounding the town, are amazing mountains that totally take your breath away (just like the song from Top Gun). Seriously.
Banff basically rocks. In fact, pack up and go now. You won’t regret it. Just don’t forget your passport (or, if you’re driving, a birth certificate and drivers license works for a limited time). Actually, getting into Canada was easy. It’s returning to the U.S. that’s a bit of a challenge. When we finally got the “okay†to cross the border back in, I felt like I’d won some kind of game or something. I was all “whoo hooâ€! Then, I’m like, “Why am I cheering? I live here.â€
So, there’s my update. Hope all’s well with you. Perhaps you’ve been travelling “internationally” as well? Anywhere fun?
