Some Work, Mostly Play
Where does the time go? I aim to blog weekly, but August zoomed by. Did it zoom by for you all, too? I’ve been doing lots of playing, which has been a blast. Boating, hiking, shopping, movies, reading, you name it. But, I’ve been working too.
Yesterday morning, I met with a fabulous new writing friend at Starbies (my cutesy name for Starbucks). We drank coffee, gabbed about books, writing, and had a grand time. Did I really just say grand? My friend is married to an English guy and must be rubbing off on me.
Today, I finished THE TRUTH ABOUT FOREVER by Sarah Dessen. I absolutely adore her books and think about her characters long after the book’s over. She totally rocks. Can’t wait to read her next one.
I’m dying to read the 4th book in the TWILIGHT series. I need to pick that up. Did you all hear about the midnight bashes the bookstores threw when BREAKING DAWN came out? Apparently, a lot of wedding dresses were worn. Does anyone know if Bella married Edward? Don’t tell, just curious if anyone has the 411! Went to the SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS movie yesterday and saw the preview for TWILIGHT. No way I’m missing that when it comes out.
Lastly, I’ve written a few more scenes in ZOMBIE LOVE. It’s getting near the end (so sad!) and is so hard to wrap up. More and more keeps pouring out. Ah, well. I’m sure I’ll have to cut later. Although, Stephenie Meyer didn’t have to! Or maybe she did.
Hope you’ve all had a fabulous few weeks. Been balancing the work and play as well?

Summer flew by! I was on deadline up until Aug 1- so June and July were a blur–and now I’m just trying to play catch-up!
A friend picked up the 4th Twilight book for me at one of those midnight parties (though I still haven’t gotten through book 3 yet), and, unfortunately, I didn’t avoid the spoilers and know so much about it now- I’m not sure I’ll even read it!
Definitely planning to see the movie though . . .
Good luck with ZOMBIE LOVE!

It always seems like I should have more time to get things done in the summer — the days are longer, I have more energy — but I seem to have less, not more. Which is why I haven’t been blogging as much lately, either. I think that’s typical, though. Seems things in the blogosphere always slow down in late summer.
Good luck with Zombie Love! And don’t worry; by the time you do all the revisions, etc. you’ll be totally sick of it. Or maybe you write perfectly the first time around, in which case I don’t want to talk to you.

I would not say “balancing” haha! It’s mostly all work and very little play but I did get one day to attend a softball tournament. Yeah I ate pizza and had a beer so I completely ruined my diet I’ve been working soooo hard on - but now it’s back to the work thing for 5 days straight:(

Alyson . . . I know what you mean about spoilers. If I’m going to delve into a book, recommended or a known author, I don’t bother reading the jacket cover. I’d rather it unfold as a surprise.
Caryn . . . Keep saying more of that “perfect first time around” thing. Maybe it’ll rub off on me.
Ellen . . . If you’re spending that much time at work, hope you’re doing something you love! Don’t forget to read during your lunch breaks. I’m telling you, SOMEONE LIKE YOU is fantastic!

Did you know I bought a ‘Twilight’ shirt at Hot Topics yesterday! You know you’ve hit it big as an author when your book is on a shirt. Love it, but decided better not wear it today dropping the kids off at school. We are in the bible belt now, and my husband reminded me I might want to make friends!
Glad you’re blogging again!

Fortunately for me, this summer has flown by and the boys will be back at school tomorrow. I know you can’t see me but I am indeed doing a happy dance as I type. I have NOT been having a nice balance of work and play. I do all work, no play and no, I don’t think it makes me a dull girl but it does make me a bit grumpy! My brother’s getting married on Sunday so between the endless back to school tasks and the wedding chores, my head has been spinning!

Hey Susan,
I love your website! It’s fun, light and simple to navigate. I sure hope you are coming Sep 13th, 2p.m. to my house for the next MT RWA meeting
