Something Borrowed

Even though I’m a writer, there are those times when I haven’t read the book, but I’ve seen the movie. That’s what happened last week when I watched Something Borrowed.

Something Borrowed was originally a Chick Lit novel by Emily Giffin. It had a darling cover and I’d browsed it in Target more than once, but the font was so small that I never purchased. Yes, the FONT is what stopped me from buying it. What can I say? Squint lines aren’t my thing.

Luckily, this book was made into a movie and had a fun cast to go with it. How could I say no? After watching this movie, I watched it again. Yes, two times in a row. It’s not like it was a blockbuster hit, but I just loved the dynamics between the various characters. Their relationshiops made me THINK. And, the chemistry between the hero and heroine felt so real. I don’t recall seeing the hero in other movies, but thought it did a fab job in this one.

Did I mention this was a movie/book that involved CHEATING? Touchy topic, but the author pulled it off. If you’re looking for a cute movie to watch, I’d totally recommend it. If you’ve seen it (or read it), I’d love to hear what you think…

I have that book that my friend passed on to me and have been meaning to read it, but library books always come first! It will definitely be in the next few books though and I’d love to see the movie too. Now that the movie was so good, would you consider squinting to read the book?

Hi, Ellen! Great question…I hadn’t even considered reading the book. With the height of my To Be Read pile and with already knowing how the story goes, I think I’d need someone to tell me that I MUST read the book cuz it’s NOT to be missed. So, if it rocks for you, let me know and I’ll add it to my TBR list!

Thanks for the movie recommendation. I’m always looking for movies where the H/h have a strong connection. In regards to font, luckily we can adjust the font on our digital readers! Cyndi :D

Haven’t seen or read it. Not really my bag baby. I just finished an amazing book about survival during world war II, recommended to me by my mother in law. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Everyone needs to read it. Your life won’t seem so bad once you finish.

  5. I didn’t get the book because of the cheating aspect, but I’ve heard so many things about the movie I may just give it a try. It does look like fun.
